Ulta Beauty promotes Kelly Mahoney to CMO

Ulta Beauty has named Kelly Mahoney chief marketing officer. Mahoney replaces the hole created when former CMO Michelle Crossan-Matos left the company last month.

Mahoney, a 10 year veteran of the brand, will lead Ulta Beauty’s brand marketing strategy which includes: driving innovation, customer engagement and growth.

“Kelly is a true champion of our culture and passionate about our brand purpose and unleashing the power of beauty to bring to life limitless possibilities for all,” said a company announcement on LinkedIn.

Mahoney joined Ulta in 2015 as senior marketing manager and worked her way up through the ranks. Prior to joining Ulta, she worked for Hatch Loyalty, BP and Accenture. The news comes on the heels of Ulta CEO’s retirement news. Last month, the company revealed that CEO Dave Kimbell will retire after 11 years with Ulta Beauty and will step down from the company’s Board of Directors. Kecia Steelman, President and Chief Operating Officer, has taken the helm of the company since.
